The GirlFund Organization

Entrepreneurship Fellowship launched

The GirlFund Organization has launched its nationwide  entrepreneurship fellowship  for young women (students and graduates of High schools and tertiary institutions) entrepreneurs in Ghana. The fellowship empowers these young female entrepreneurs to strengthen their capacity to launch and advance their entrepreneurial ideas and effectively contribute to social and economic development in their communities.

Each Fellow accepted into the program will participate in a year-long business management program which includes mentoring, networking, business management education, and guidance, and the opportunity for selected businesses to receive interest-free grants to kickstart or expand their businesses.

Nana Adwoa Koranteng, the Country Director, reiterated that “the time has come for women to be given the opportunity to build organic enterprises that will transition into large corporations. We can not only wish it into existence; it requires stepping up to ensure that the next generation of female business leaders are equipped with the right tools and resources and we, at The GirlFund Organization, are determined to make that happen.

It is expected that within a period of five years about 1,000 young girls will be empowered to kickstart their businesses.

¦  “Women are catalytic for taking the economy of the nations to the next level and I believe that when these young women have been empowered, then we will be taking giant steps to end sexual and human trafficking as well as the exploitation of these women” – Ms. Djemillah Peerbux, a business mentor from Mauritius.

Application for the next cohort of female entrepreneurs have opened and young women who are still students and graduates from tertiary institutions in the country who are willing to commit to the tenets of the fellowship are encouraged to apply here.
