The GirlFund Organization
Our Story
The GirlFund Organization is an initiative to increase and support the number of female-driven MSMEs in Africa by providing relevant and applicable business education, business mentoring, and funding opportunities.
Formerly known as The Women in Network Empowerment Project (The WiNE Project) our mandate as a community-focused organization started in 2011 to equip rural women to become active economic agents of their families and communities.
From 2011 to 2017, The WiNE Project has trained more than 1,000 rural women and teen mothers have been trained in vocational and income-generating skills including bead making, soap and detergent production, fabric production, beverage production, dressmaking, hairdressing, and basket weaving. The GirlFund Organization is an active enabler of entrepreneurship in the Sub-Saharan African startup ecosystem. We are enabling young Africans, especially women, to build and grow viable and valuable ventures – 3Vs.
We specialize in providing relevant and applicable business and entrepreneurship education, mentoring, networking, and access to flexible capital, funding, and grant support to businesses, especially women-led, women-owned, and, women-focused ones.
We are experts in curriculum development and design for entrepreneurship programs, workshops and accelerator programs – providing strong cases for result-driven entrepreneurship program management.
